Goal of the project

As part of my coursework, I participated in Bling Bling's Power Hour project as the only programmer in a multidisciplinary team of 8 members. The main objective of this project was to gain a comprehensive understanding of Unreal Engine 4 and showcase proficiency in utilizing its blueprints while developing an engaging puzzle based 2D side scroller game.

Why this project?

In my role as a mentor for the team, we took into account the 12-week timeframe and our team's strengths, leading us to choose the development of a 2D side-scrolling puzzle game. The main goal of this project was to create a playable demo of a BBPH and gain insights into effective collaboration.

What were the problems faced during the development of this project?

As a mentor entering a collaborative work setting for the first time, I faced some initial challenges in managing the project. I navigated the complexity of maintaining source control, particularly given the varying technical expertise of my team members. I also took on the task of learning UE4 during the development process.

How was the problem resolved?

In collaboration with the Producer of the project, we divided the work into smaller tasks and met once a week to keep each other updated. During this process, I thoroughly understood the production aspect of a game development cycle
